8-15-07 The third beach cleaner design
Getting closer to the end of summer I realized powering this machine on electricity would be a problem so I purchased a used snowblower, ripped it apart, and now have a gas engine attached to the rotating brush. So heavy to be moved around by man power I had to rig it and attached it to a 4-wheeler. I also got better wheels and modified the top cover of the filter and had to make my own air filter for the exposed carburetor. The great thing about experimenting with this project all this time (wasting my time and money) is the motor stalls once the brush digs into the sand, (the electric motor didn't) so now I either have to educate myself on fixing gas motors, alter the design again, etc., but I'm leaning towards a simpler less expensive design of creating a cage you simply drag with a 4-wheeler to clean the beach for next year. Another failed but fun and educational attempt to improve something for the kids to enjoy something I once had, (that they don't know about) a clean beach.
